Carnival in Madeira

Carnival festivities in Madeira take place in a constant festive atmosphere.

Funchal dawns on Friday to the sound of philharmonic bands and carnival marches that bring good spirits throughout the city's downtown, continuing at night with shows in Praça do Município for five consecutive days.

The highlight of Carnival, the float procession, is scheduled for 9pm on Saturday and will feature 11 participating troupes, totaling 1,450 people, for the theme “Madeira: six centuries of joy.” More than a thousand revelers take part in eye-catching costumes and a dozen exquisitely decorated floats.

This party ends on Carnival Tuesday in the afternoon with the chaotic procession. Immense irreverent revelers from all corners parade before the crowd that is infected by this caricatured atmosphere. During all these days, the streets of Funchal are decorated with bright motifs and filled with ambient music alluding to the carnival season.

This year Carnival will be magical. There is everything, for everyone, with innovation and tradition of quality! Let yourself be captivated by this unique Festival and come have dinner or lunch at the Quinta Estação Restaurant.

This Carnival, gather a group of friends and have fun this season at a table with good food and good wine. Quinta Estação is open for both lunch and dinner (by appointment), at the following times: Monday to Saturday, between 11am and 11pm - Sundays and Holidays between 11am and 21h.
